I purchased a refurbished HP EliteBook 8460p with Windows 7 - 64bit. Unfortunately it came without an activation Product Key for the newly installed version of Windows 7 - 64bit.
When I contacted the retailer of the computer, they offered to send me a new DVD of Windows 10.
They told me to install it using the DVD reader and to check the Do Not Save Anything option.
Unfortunately Windows 10 did not work with this computer, and because I had been told to select Do Not Save Anything, neither the old version of Windows 7, or the restore partiction, was available to me any longer.
I contacted HP and they sent me a flash drive of Windows 7 - 64 bit, but it was without updates, and more importantly the drivers for the devices listed in device manager. Consequently, it would not connect to the internet, either by wire or wirelessly, update, and NONE OF THE DEVICES (listed in device manager) WORKED.
A very nice and patient person on the HP support forum helped me get all the drivers, but it was extrodinarily time consuming and labor intensive.
Now the machine needs another factory restoration. Is there any way to get a restore media for this machine that contains the drivers for the devices, especially the one that lets you connect wirelessly to the internet, as well as the Windows 7- 64 bit operating ystem?
HP didn't seem to have one before; that is why they sent me the flash drive with only the Windows 7 operating system.

Hi:
Unfortunately, HP does not make a recovery disk set for the 8460p that includes the drivers.
If you look at the discussion we had the last time, you can use the drivers from there...
The wifi driver is this one...
This package contains drivers required to enable functionality of the Intel Wireless LAN adapter on supported notebooks with supported operating systems.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58782.exe
Ethernet:
This package contains the driver installation package for the Intel 82579LM and 82579V Gigabit Ethernet Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp60501-61000/sp60775.exe
What you might want to do this time after you install the networking drivers, is just let W7 do all its updates before proceeding further.
This file is supposed to contain all of the W7 x64 bit drivers you need for your notebook.
Unfortunately, you still have to pick the drivers out of the applicable folders. There is no automated installation process.
