Hi @SwaggerPony,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!

I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible  and the auto rotate not working correctly. I would make sure all updates have been done on the Notebook first. Restart the Notebook.

Here is a link to show you how to configure and disable the screen rotation feature.

In the Device Manager, click the arrow next to Display Adapters. Right-click on Graphics and select Uninstall Driver Software if more than 1 Graphics adapter do 1 at a time.
Then restart the Notebook.

The Notebook should find and automatically install the updated driver.

Please get back to me how this goes.

Please click the Thumbs up below to thank me for my efforts!

Thanks

Hey @SwaggerPony,

I recommended to go to uninstall the drivers as this would or could change the settings that are missing.

The touchscreen shouldn't need re calibration, but if you or another user has re calibrated it, it may affect the performance of the touchscreen.

Here’s how to check or restore the factory default calibration using a keyboard or mouse:

Press the Windows logo key Type Control Panel, then use the arrow keys to highlight Control Panel, and press Enter.
In Control Panel, use the arrow keys to highlight Hardware and Sound and press Enter.
Under Tablet PC Settings use the arrow keys to highlight Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input, and press Enter.
Use the Tab key to select the Reset button, and press Enter.
If the Reset button is grayed out, your touch calibration is still at factory settings and nothing further required.
Use the Tab key to select Yes, press Enter, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Old thread, but this is a super annoying problem so i'll respond in case others are facing it.

on my pavilion x360 with windows 10 i had this same problem steps to solve below:

1. rotate you laptop so the screen rotates into the undisired portrait mode

2. go to display settings, you should see that orientation is locked to Portrait, but the rotation lock setting is set to off

3. (counter intuitive) - set the rotation lock setting to ON.  You'd think this would lock you in portrait mode forever, but instead it unlocks the orientation setting.

4. change the orientation setting to Landscape

Voila, now when laying down and using your laptop the screen wont rotate on you.  If you do want to enable rotation, you can toggle the rotation lock setting from the right edge of the screen quick menu, but you'll have to go back into the settings to get it to stay put again.
