EliteBook 6930
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello there!

My EliteBook 6930p had become extremely slow at processing commands. I ran a HDD and run-in tests. The former passed but the latter failed with the following message:

Failed memory address = 0x00000000Patern expected = 0x00000000Patern read = 0x00000000

What should I do to restore my high speed?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello @Walker2019

The root cause is a hardware failure - your memory (RAM chip) module has failed.

You need to open your computer, get the faulty memory module out and buy a new one of the same type. Currently you should have one or several DDR2 RAM chips, your new one(s) must be the same:

  • DDR2  (DDR2-800)
  • capacity - 8 GB (2x4)  or  4 GB  (2x2)  or  2 GB (2x1) or some mix of them
  • same speed/frequency - PC2-6400, 800-MHz

You can buy the memory from a reputable local tech store, order it online or check the HP Parts Store >> http://partsurfer.hp.com/

Once you replace the memory chip, the issue should be resolved. Let me know if this helps.

In order to improve your speed, consider replacing your storage device (hard disk drive) with a brand new solid state drive (SSD)
