Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows10. I can's update, reset or even return to Windows 7. I called Microsoft support who worked on my computer for 3 weeks without any success. I formated my my Laptop. & re-installed Windows 7 again as instructed by Microsoft, downloaded Windows 10 again and....I have the same problem. I did error checks, Disk checks, registery clean up...I used every tool that anyone can thick off. After 6 weeks of trouble shooting and re-installing of Windows 10 and going through forums, I came up with a possible conclusion and that maybe my Laptop drivers and or operating system  are not comptible with Win10. I appreciate any help from anyone who has gone through this annoying experience! to help. I have a few additional questions below that may help me:

1. Is there a freeware friendly user tool to help me scan my HP Laptop and find out if there are any errors or issues and

    then epair it.

2. Is their a freeware friendly tool that can help me update my laptop system?

3. Is their a freeware tool to help me fix, repair this problem? or maybe HP has that tool?

4. Is there a tool to check if HP laptop compitable with Windows 10. I know that that windows 10 checks that when installing.

Please let me know. I am open to all options & recomendations bearing in mind that many users have had this problem.

Sorry, I did a check and confirmed that there are no Win10 HP drivers for your machine.

There's  no way you can manually "update" the drivers yourself to make them work for Win10.

Some of the older laptops simply do not work well with Win10.  I have an HP DV6, which got trashed from a failed Win10 Upgrade.  I returned it to Win7 by doing a Factory Restore using HP Recovery Media.  It has worked flawlessly ever since.

My own perspective on this is: If I have to choose between an older OS that works great, along with all the hardware, versus a newer OS in which some of the functions and/or some of the hardware malfunctions -- I'll choose the older OS every time.

You can stay with Win10 and wait to see if newer drivers from Windows Update eventually fix the problem, but understand MS's role is only to provide the most basic of functionality. So, the situation is not likely to change in the foreseeable future.

If you want to return your machine to its original working state, you need to consider using HP Recovery Media.

To answer your questions:

1. HP Support Assistant can check your PC and look for updated drivers.  Install from the link: HP Support Assistant | HP® Official Site

2. NO.  Microsft provide the ONLY Win10n Upgrade tool.  In some cases, using the Media Creation Tool can have better results than trying to use Windows Upgrade:  Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help   Choose the Option of Upgrade this PC now.

3. There are diagnostics you can run, but they're not going to fix Win10 problems -- which are due almost entirely to poor drivers, and the lack of HP Win10 drivers for older machines.

4. NO.  HP has stated that only machines build after August 2013 are guaranteed to work with Win10.  If you post your specific model number, I can check to see if there are Win10 drivers, but if this is an older machine, then most likely, there are not.

My Machine is probably older than AUG2013.  My product # is C1M29ES /Serial# (removed content) / HP ProBook 4535s. I already installed  HP support assistant and nothing has come up yet.

I did install win10 using the Media Creation Tool! and did not make any change.

I also believe that my HP drivers are not compitable with Windows 10 and somehow need to be fixed by updating them and I am not sure how to do that.

Await further recomendations. Thank you

The problem still exists. I will not even try to check again as it has so far damaged my laptop twice. And I lost my file key for Windows 7. I am convinced that the only solution will be to wait until its time to buy a new laptop with windows 10 already installed on it. Unless someone knows for sure that this problem has been fixed and an update from either HP or windows will help.
