@HLP7,

Yes -installing BIOS F.06 Rev.A is usually a good idea in your case, because:

BUT there are also some risks / precautions to take:

  • Backup your important data before doing the update. Even though BIOS updates don’t typically touch stored files, things can go wrong. -That shouldn't happen in a perfect world but better be safe than sorry as I would say.

  • Make sure your laptop is plugged into AC power and has good battery charge -BIOS failure during power loss can brick the laptop.

  • Note any custom BIOS settings you have, because they may be reset to defaults.

  • Confirm that F.06 doesn’t introduce any new complaints from users (sometimes new BIOSes add regressions). A quick forum check didn’t show widespread reports of bricking for this model yet.

My recommendation: Go ahead and update to F.06 Rev.A -it probably will help reduce or stop the crashing -but follow the precautions above. If after the update the crashes persist, it might point to hardware issues (RAM, SSD, overheating etc.), not just firmware.

Kind Regards,

Thanks a lot! I was wondering this because the HP Support Assistant does not recommend any bios updates even though on the HP Support website I can see a new version has been released. So this is for sure correct bios for laptop model HP OmniBook 5 16-bc1009no 16" ? 🙂
