Stop HP Sureclick browser from opening Outlook email PDF attachments

I use Kofax Power PDF as my default PDF viewer and have this app set as the default program for pdf file types. This works fine with PDF files stored on my system.

However when double clicking on a PDF file attached to an Outlook email message HP Sureclick opens and displays the PDF file in a Chromium browser window. I want Power PDF to display the file instead.

I have researched removing Sureclick completely but there isn't a simple solution, with some suggesting Registry changes are needed.

My subscription to McAfee Total Protection provides all the security tools I need.

Charlie - thank you for your reply. Unfortunately none of the suggestions in the video worked. In fact I'd already done the things mentioned.

After some more research and testing I can add the following.

If I right click on a pdf file in an email and Save As to the desktop I can see the file with the Kofax icon at bottom right. This suggests that Kofax will be used to open the file, but double-clicking on the file results in it opening in a Chromium browser instead. Interestingly you can also see the HP Wolf logo in the bottom left of the file icon. 

So I right clicked on the file icon on the desktop and selected Remove Protection, which resulted in the HP Wolf logo disappearing.

Now when I double click on the file icon it correctly opens in Kofax PDF.

My question now is, how do I stop files attached to incoming emails from being "protected" by HP Wolf and opening in a Chromium browser?

I deleted Chrome as my browser of choice (now using MS Edge) as I thought this would stop Chromium from opening, but Chromium opens anyway. How do I stop Chromium from opening? Obviously Chromium is associated with HP Secureclick because this is clearly stated when I view About Chromium.

I assume the same situation will occur if I use another PDF viewer other than Kofax, such as Adobe Acrobat, but I haven't tried this.

I believe I have solved the issue myself.

From the HP Wolf Security Console I disabled Threat Containment, which disabled Sureclick.

Now when I double click on an email PDF attachment it opens in the default PDF viewer, Kofax Power PDF in my case.

I will continue to rely on McAfee Total Protection for my security needs.
