Hi  @kaustavm49,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how worrying it can be when your laptop suddenly shuts down and won’t restart properly. Thank you for sharing the details of your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 14-dv0000  that helps us narrow down the situation.

Here are a few  steps you can try before reinstalling the operating system:

  1. Hard reset: Disconnect the power adapter, remove any external devices, and press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Then reconnect the adapter and try powering on.
  2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics: Restart the laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly, then press F2 to open diagnostics. Run a full system test to check for hardware issues.
  3. Boot into Safe Mode: If Windows attempts to start, try pressing Shift + F8 or use advanced startup options to enter Safe Mode. This can help isolate whether the issue is software-related.
  4. System Restore: If Safe Mode works, you can attempt a restore to a previous point before the shutdown issue occurred.
  5. Create recovery media: If none of the above steps works(Ensure all the data is backed up before performing this step), you may need to reinstall Windows using HP Recovery Manager or a bootable USB drive.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
