Hello, I need some help getting my laptop running smoothly again. About 4 days ago I noticed the computer was not charging while it was plugged in, but the charging indicator light was on. Only when the computer died did it begin charging agin. Now when I turned the computer back on, at the startup menu I saw an error message - " The following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalid. System Board (00A) - System Board CT number."
I've since tried looking up a solution and saw on a previous thread that HP support needs the System Board CT number which I've located (and I'm sure this is related but under my system information, next to system SKU it says "unsupported"). So what steps should I take now to get this resolved.
p.s. On that previous thread with the same issue the support tech mentioned this error often happens after the system board is replaced. Mine was not!

Hello @FermiPopcorn
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Community.
There is a TKB article about these problems you experience now >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/System-board-00A-error-occurs-during-PC-start...
Please, check it to better understand the issue. Basically, it may happen due to BIOS update or due to motherboard replacement.
In all cases you should reach to an authorized HP service center where the technicians can fix it and tattoe back the information.
Hope this helps. Let me know if any issues or questions. Provide your reply or feedback.

Thank you for the article, it was useful in explaining some things I was confused on. However, it seems like apart from attempting a fix by myself it´s toast. I live in Spain, it´s out of warrenty, and from what I´ve heard others mention you replace the whole motherboard and it can cost half the price of a new laptop. Frustrated at the computer for spontaneously deciding to untatatoo that info, stupid. I do have just one last question if you could help because I´ve found nothing on the issue - three problems came about the same day
1) laptop does not charge when on, only when off. I don´t get the ¨laptop plugged in, not charging¨ message but the indicator light goes on no problem when I plug in the charger.
2) The system board error message on startup
3) but the most confusing thing is why is chrome (and IE) suddenly running at a 90s dial up speed? What about this info (CT number only one to be missing) becoming untattooed causes the internet browser to lag? Is this issue experienced by everyone thats suffered from it? Like, windows explorer, every application besides chrome run normal enough. Whats the deal?

Hello @FermiPopcorn
The computer becoming slow (browsers) or failure to charge are completely different issues and are not connected to the originally reported one. I am a volunteer here and I am not sure what the technician will do - motherboard replacement or a tatoo but I don't think a replacement is needed for such an issue unless there is also something new.
Your best option is to contact the local support department and visit HP Authorized service center to discuss all possible options
Here are the Spanish contact details >> https://www8.hp.com/es/es/contact-hp/phone-assist.html
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes
