I have HP Victus Laptop 16z-e000 ProdID 2V8Y9AV that will not complete reset of Windows 11 Pro
System was randomly freezing, or shutting down, or rebooting. Have been unsuccessful in resetting operating system.
Freezes or reboots.
Presently installed fresh Windows 11 pro 24h2
All HP hardware tests run have been flawless. Temperatures are all optimum.
For three months the system ran Proxmox Server flawlessly: virtual windows 11 and 10 ran without issue. Debian, Ubuntu, and assorted container implementations.
Tried the native Windows 11 Pro 24h2 once again and barely completed install. Will run briefly but still randomly reboots or freezes.

Hi @MLHig,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding persistent instability issues with your HP Victus 16.1-inch gaming laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check for Driver Updates:
- Make sure all drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up-to-date. You can use the HP Support Assistant to check for updates or visit the HP website to manually download updates specific to your model.
Windows Update:
- Ensure that Windows 11 is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to check for updates.
BIOS Update:
- Ensure your BIOS is the latest version. Check the HP support page for your specific model to download and update the BIOS if necessary.
Power Settings:
- Adjust your power settings to see if it stabilizes the system.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings, and try setting it to "High performance."
Perform a Clean Boot:
- This can help you determine if background applications are causing the issue. Follow instructions here on how to perform a clean boot.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Sometimes third-party antivirus software or other applications can cause instability. Try disabling such software temporarily to see if stability improves.
Hardware Inspection:
- Even though hardware diagnostics showed no issues, inspect for any loose components or connections (RAM, SSD) that might be causing intermittent issues.
Event Viewer:
- Check Windows Event Viewer for any critical errors or warnings that might provide insights into the cause of the random freezing and rebooting.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
