The charging system is not working properly.  Tried uninstalling Microsoft AC Adapter, and Microsoft ACPI - compliant method battery  and restarting the laptop.  As expected the two devices were auto reinstalled and the charger worked for a few minutes but stopped again.  I did not disconnect the battery.  Any tips?

Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, there's an issue with the AC Adapter.

Appreciate you trying the steps. Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you -

1) Are you getting any error?

2) Is there a light next to the AC Adapter port?

Let's try these steps -

Step 1 Hard Reset -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.
3) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.
4) Plug-in the Adapter.
5) Try to turn on the computer.

Step 2 Test the Battery and the AC Adapter -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F2 once.
4) Go to Component test.
5) From the list, run the Battery test.
6) Repeat the same procedure to test the AC Adapter as well.

For more information, please refer to this document.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.
