HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p215ax
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

It is mid 2025 and I am trying to create system recovery media before win10 support expires.

The HP site no longer has the drivers available to download.

When I try to run the Win10 recovery media creation tool, I get a message that says I can only create one copy and it says I did that a few years ago.     I don't remember creating recovery media, and if I did, I don't know where it is.

If my hard drive fails, I currently have no way to restore my laptop.  My laptop is too old to run Win11, and I wouldn't want to anyway.

How can I create recovery media?

Any help much appreciated.

@Dazz10, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p215ax is running Windows 10. Here’s a complete guide to help you create recovery media and back up your drivers in 2025.

Option 1: Use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool

  1. Download from: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10
  2. Create a bootable USB (8 GB or more).
  3. Boot from USB and reinstall Windows 10 (your license should auto-activate).

Option 2: HP Cloud Recovery Tool (if supported)

Check if your model is supported: HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

Option 3: Backup Drivers Manually

Option 4: Create a System Image

  • Go to Control Panel > Backup and Restore (Windows 7)
  • Click Create a system image and save it to an external drive

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
