The screen turns solid blue, no borders, and the cursor moves by itself. In the middle of the screen, this phrase is displayed: "Working on an update, don't turn off PC. This will take a while." The webcam activated itself. I don't have any control over the cursor. At the bottom of the screen is this phrase is displayed," your pc may restart several times".
Is this a legitimate update, or is it a scam?

Hi @senord
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your HP laptop. It sounds like your laptop might be encountering some form of malfunction or potentially malicious activity. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:
1. Perform a Full System Scan
To check for and remove any potential malware, use a trusted antivirus program to scan your system. Windows Defender, which is built into Windows 11, can be used for this purpose.
2. Update Your System
Ensure that your operating system and all drivers are up-to-date. This can often resolve unexpected behaviors caused by software conflicts.
3. Safe Mode
When you experience this issue again, try to restart your computer in Safe Mode. This will load only the essential drivers and services. If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, it could indicate that a program or driver running in normal mode is causing the problem.
4. Disable Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)
If RDP is enabled, it could allow someone to remotely control your computer. Disable it to prevent unauthorized access:
- Go to Settings > System > Remote Desktop.
- Ensure that "Enable Remote Desktop" is set to off.
5. Check for Unauthorized Software
Review installed programs for any unfamiliar or suspicious software that could be causing these issues. Uninstall any such programs.
6. Webcam Security
Cover your webcam when not in use to prevent unauthorized access. Use a piece of tape or a webcam cover specifically designed for this purpose.
7. Windows Update
Ensure that your system updates and patches from Microsoft are automatically installed. However, an update screen should not activate your webcam or move the cursor.
