I just replaced my 8 year old xp system with a HP G71-437CA notebook running Windows 7. I loaded some Canon software I realized I did not require. Everything was uninstalled except Canon Photorecord and Canon Utilities Zoombrowser Ex. The Publisher is Cisra. They are not in the program list but show up under the Control Panel list of uninstall. When I try uninstalling it says the feature is looking for a CD-rom or Removable disk not available. If I put the disk back in it tries and loads again. i cannot get rid of the 2 of them. Any ideas?

Few things to try. Download CCleaner and use their program to uninstall it and then run their registry cleaner.

A more aggressive approach is Revo Uninstaller.

I don't recommend their registry cleaner software as it can cause instability if you allow it to remove to many files that are necessary. CCleaner is OK though.
The following is what I do when there is a program that won't uninstall.
Go to Computer and click "C" . Most of these programs are 32 bit software and can be found in "Program Files (X86)".
I just look for it in there and right click and delete. If it's not there it should be in "program files", that's the 64 bit part of the computer. Locate the software and delete it.
After deleting the Canon software run CCleaner's registry cleaner.
Word of caution. Deleting the wrong thing right out of drive "C" can cause instability. If you only delete things out of those two folders you will be OK. Stay out of all the other folders, especially the folder marked "Windows"

Type in "msconfig" in the search box and see if there are any Canon applications on start up. Mousing over these applications will tell you where they are on the computer.
Did you look for "Canon" in Program Files (x86) ?
If they are still there in programs and features what happens when you click to uninstall them ? Any dialog boxes that come up ?
If so, what do they say ?
The other thing to try is to put your disc back in, load it all back in and then uninstall the problem programs first. By installing everything back in again it may put back some registry files to allow the others to properly uninstall.

Tried installing software again but came up with an error when it realized it was already installed. Deleted the new Canon software. Went to CCcleaner and tried to delete both pieces. One file deleted but the Canon Photorecord stayed. Error came up on the delete command "Cannot delete MSI installer"
Tried selecting uninstaller. Error came up "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert the "Canon PhotoRecord" disk and click OK" Don't have that disk and never had it. The disk I loaded for the camera was ::anon Digital Camera Solution Disk" Click OK and error came back "The path "cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package "PR.MSI" in a folder from which you can install the product Canon PhotoRecord"
Could I rename it in CCcleaner then try and delete it?

I downloaded the program as you suggested and when I open it it starts to install then comes up with this error"
The installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator.
I am the administrator. What's happening?
