Hi again,

This looks pretty serious. I just want to ask before I do it - are you sure this will fix my problem?

Thanks!

I am going to wait to do it until Thursday or Friday just because I have important papers to write for university and don't want something to happen so I am unable to write them.

Also when I turned on my computer just now it says its 11:06am, but its actually 4:51pm. I just thought that was really weird because that has never happened to my laptop before... I don't see why that would have anything to do with the battery... I hope something else isn't going on? Just thought I'd mention it since it's out of the ordinary.

Thanks.

Hi @INFJash, I am the @Chimney_83. It looks like you were interacting with @The_Fossette, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

Thanks for the reply, right-click on the clock on the system tray and select Adjust date/time.

On the Date and Time window, make sure you have select Set-time automatically.

Also, check the system date and time in BIOS.

To enter BIOS.

Turn the computer Off/Shutdown.

Turn the computer On and keep tapping F10 on the keyboard repeatedly.

This should take you to BIOS/System Utility.

Where you have an option to check/change the system time.

Set the correct date and time.

Save and Exit BIOS.

The computer will restart and during restart keep tapping F2 or ESC repeatedly.

This should take the computer to system diagnostics.

Please run a system test. Click here for assistance.

If any of the tests fail, please contact our phone support for the service options.

Keep me posted.

Hello and thank you. My laptop has went downhill since I started getting help on this forum. It now shuts off immediately after being unplugged, even if I have it in sleep mode.  It only ever says plugged in and not charging now. The clock and date are different and wrong each time I turn it on. Now some of my programs are closing and getting errors out of nowhere. This is very frustrating and has only happened since I started making changes that were suggested here.

Anyways, I will give updating the bios a try now and really hope that it makes things better, and not worse.

Okay so I went and followed all of the steps that  @The_Fossette gave to update my BIOS. There wasn't a BIOS update even available. My product # is G6T00UA#ABL. So I can't even do it and they said that would fix my problems.

Now I have more problems than I started with before coming to this forum! I am feeling really frustrated over this. 😞 So what can we do now to fix my problem or at least fix the problems that this forum has created on my laptop??

I just completed a system diagnostics quick test. All areas passed except for "battery check" which said, "not installed". What does this mean?

First, have you tried removing / replacing the battery to be sure that it is properly seated and making a good connection? Has it been charging? If not, it may be drained and need to charge.

If that doesn't help, see HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 😎 or HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 10).

I don't think that the mismatched time is related to the primary battery; you may need to replace the RTC battery. For that, see HP PCs - Setting Time and Date, Clock Losing Time, Time and Date Incorrect (Windows 😎 or HP PCs - Setting Time and Date, Clock Losing Time, Time and Date Incorrect (Windows 10).

Please let me know if this leads to the solution! If not, I'd advise contacting HP Support.
