HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2013ua (sn: **bleep**)

On the laptop HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2013ua (sn: [Personal Information Removed]), an incorrect version of BIOS (Ami F.23) is installed, and it should be updated to F.17. As a result, the laptop immediately shuts down upon startup. I can only access the BIOS settings. All hardware tests pass without errors. Where can I download the BIOS recovery file for a USB drive specific to my laptop HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2013ua (sn: [Personal Information Removed])?

Hi @Valiuha,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have mistakenly installed an incorrect version of the BIOS on your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15 and it is causing your laptop to shut down immediately upon startup, you will need to perform a BIOS recovery to revert to the correct version. Here's how you can proceed.

  • Ensure your laptop is connected to a reliable power source to prevent any interruption during the recovery process.
  • Visit the official HP support website and navigate to the "Drivers and Downloads" section for your specific laptop model. Search for the correct BIOS version (F.17) and download it to a USB flash drive.
  • Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your laptop.
  • Power on your laptop and immediately press the key specified to enter the BIOS settings (usually Esc, F10, or F12). Consult your laptop's manual or the HP website for the correct key.
  • Once in the BIOS settings, navigate to the "System Configuration" or "Boot Options" section and look for an option similar to "BIOS Recovery" or "Flash BIOS." Select that option.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the BIOS recovery process. Most likely, you will be prompted to select the BIOS file from the USB flash drive. Choose the correct BIOS version (F.17) that you downloaded earlier.
  • Double-check that you have selected the correct BIOS file, as installing an incorrect version can cause further issues.
  • Start the BIOS recovery process and wait for it to complete. It may take several minutes, and your laptop may restart automatically during the process.
  • Once the BIOS recovery process finishes, your laptop should reboot with the correct BIOS version (F.17) installed. Verify that the shutdown issue is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
