HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC serial number:[edited]
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hi,i want to update my bios because micrisoft support  told me this because when i wanted to install windows 10  from usb it appeared eror iastorAV.sys and driver irql not less or equal to windows 10.From hp site i read that you don't lose your

BitLocker Drive Encryption key but i can't have this key because i don't have bitlocker activated and i can't activate it.

 Screenshot (19).png

the message says impossible to use a tpm.Its necessary that administrator uses the option "allow bitlocker without a compatible tpm"Screenshot (20).pngScreenshot (21).png

how can i know the key?

Hello @alex_fighter_42

In your post you describe 3-4 different situations which may be related but it's less likely.

 Please, provide clarifications 🙂

* Why do you want to install Windows 10 from a USB ? Based on the screenshots, it is already installed. You mean you want to update it somehow ?

* The Blue Screen error (BSOD) about iastorAV.sys is less likely to be related to BitLocker  - this is 3rd party driver by Intel - this is not a Microsoft driver.  How exactly are you trying to install Windows 10 - clean new installation or upgrade installation from an older Windows version ?

* Have you tried to enter BIOS (F10) and check if your PC model have different modes of operating of the HDD (SATA, RAID, ATA/IDE, etc...) If you do, switch to SATA off, RAID auto/IDE enabled ?

* Activating BitLocker is not related to your other queries - BIOS, Windows installation or update.

Your PC is a consumer class device made for home users and I believe it does not have a TMP chip.

Bitlocker can be activated and can function even without TPM but this option needs to be enabled. By default it is somewhat hidden as per Microsoft decision to emphasize the importance of the TPM module. You need to open the Group Policy editor (GPEdit.msc) and configure/enable the option. a USB pen drive may be needed to store the key during start up.

You do not need to enable Bitlocker in order to update BIOS. Bitlocker and BIOS updates are not related in your case.

Hera are instructions how to update the BIOS >> https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/c00042629

The BIOS itself can be taken from >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

How exactly are you trying to install Windows 10 - you already have it - the new SSD is a new drive, completely different installation - what you have now is different.

I suggest you remove the existing HDD, implant the SSD and re-create Windows 10 installation media - perform clean install following these steps >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/EliteBook-very-slow-after-drive...

If you already installed Windows 10 on the very same PC on an HDD and if the SSD is the only new component,  there is no problem in the BIOS or Bitlocker.

If it cannot see your SSD disk, try the suggestions with regards to diskpart described here :
