Dear HP Support Team,

I am writing to urgently escalate the recurring and unresolved issue with my HP laptop in continuation of my previous HP Support Case No. Edited

The issue reported under the above case has still not been permanently resolved despite multiple troubleshooting steps, fresh Windows installations, physical inspection/service of the laptop, thermal/pasting work, and driver replacement as advised by HP Support.

Unfortunately, the same critical issue has occurred again today.

Complete History of the Issue – Case No. Edited

I would like to clearly document the complete sequence of events so that this latest incident is considered as a continuation of the previous unresolved issue and is not treated as a new or isolated software problem.

1. Initial Troubleshooting

When the problem first started, I contacted HP Support under Case No. Edited

The troubleshooting steps suggested by HP Support were performed as instructed. However, the problem continued.

2. Fresh Windows Installation

HP Support subsequently advised me to perform a fresh installation of Windows.

I followed the instructions and performed a fresh Windows installation.

Despite the fresh Windows installation, the same issue occurred again.

3. Physical Inspection and Thermal/Heating Issue

Since the issue continued even after the fresh Windows installation, the laptop was physically opened and inspected by HP/service personnel.

I was informed that there was a heating/thermal-related issue, and thermal/pasting work was performed on the laptop.

However, even after this service and thermal/pasting work, the problem occurred again.

4. Another Fresh Windows Installation

As the issue continued, another fresh Windows installation was subsequently performed as part of the troubleshooting process.

Even after this second fresh Windows installation, the same issue occurred again.

5. Driver Issue Identified by HP

After the repeated occurrence of the problem, HP Support subsequently informed me that the issue could be caused by an incorrect/wrong driver installed on the laptop.

As advised by HP, the previous driver was replaced and the driver recommended by HP was installed.

However, even after installing the recommended/different driver, the problem still did not get permanently resolved.

6. Previous Follow-up Email

After the issue occurred again even after the driver replacement, I contacted HP Support by email and informed them that the problem was still continuing.

However, I did not receive a response to that email.

Latest Incident – 20 August 2026

Today, the same issue has occurred again.

The laptop first completely froze/hung and became totally unresponsive during normal use.

After remaining frozen for a considerable amount of time, the laptop displayed the following Blue Screen error:

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (0x9F)

The system then remained in this condition for a prolonged period and did not restart normally.

As the laptop was completely unresponsive and did not recover, I eventually had to use the physical power button to forcefully shut it down and then power it on again.

I have recorded the complete incident on video, including the system freeze and the subsequent error screen. I can provide this video to HP Support for technical investigation.

This Is a Recurring Issue, Not a New Incident

The most important point is that this is not the first occurrence of this problem.

The laptop has already undergone:

  • Initial troubleshooting by HP Support

  • Fresh Windows installation

  • Physical inspection/service

  • Thermal/heating-related service and repasting

  • Another fresh Windows installation

  • Driver replacement as advised by HP

  • Further troubleshooting after the driver replacement

Despite all these steps, the laptop continues to experience critical system failures.

The latest failure has again resulted in:

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (0x9F)

This is particularly concerning because a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (0x9F) error was also encountered during the previous troubleshooting history.

Request for Proper Escalation and Root Cause Analysis

At this stage, I request HP to please escalate Case No. Edited to the appropriate senior technical/hardware engineering team and review the entire previous case history along with today's incident.

I specifically request investigation into:

  1. The actual root cause of the recurring DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (0x9F).

  2. Why the issue continues even after multiple fresh Windows installations.

  3. Why the issue continued after the laptop was inspected and thermal/heating-related service and repasting were performed.

  4. Whether the previously identified driver issue was actually the root cause.

  5. Why the issue continues even after installing the driver recommended by HP.

  6. BIOS, chipset, ACPI and power-management related problems.

  7. Intel/NVIDIA graphics driver and GPU power-state interaction.

  8. Any motherboard, power-management, thermal or other hardware-related issue that may not have been detected by the earlier diagnostics.

  9. The latest crash dump, Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor information.

  10. Whether any specific hardware component or driver is failing during Windows power-state transitions.

I request that HP not simply advise another fresh Windows installation or generic driver reinstallation, unless the diagnostic evidence specifically establishes that as the appropriate corrective action.

Multiple software reinstalls and driver changes have already been performed, but the problem continues.

Evidence Available

I can provide the following information/evidence for further investigation:

  • Complete video recording of today's incident

  • Video showing the system freeze and BSOD

  • Latest Event Viewer logs

  • Reliability Monitor history

  • Minidump/crash dump files, if generated

  • HP ImageDiags reports and logs

  • Thermal logs

  • Previous diagnostic information

  • Any additional information required by the HP engineering team

I request that all of the above be reviewed together with the history of HP Support Case No. Edited.

The laptop has already undergone extensive troubleshooting and service, yet the same critical failure continues to recur.

Therefore, I request a proper root-cause analysis and permanent resolution, rather than another cycle of repetitive troubleshooting that has already been performed multiple times.

Please acknowledge this escalation, link today's incident to Case No. Edited and provide the next action plan from your senior technical/engineering team.

Regards,
