Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have a brand new Victus notebook with Windows 11. After spending some time with it, I'd rather be working with Windows 10. I don't like it but I like Windows 11 even less. I don't want to be a beta tester anymore. I've read about the issues it had with Ryzen processors and haven't read anything to find it has been fixed. Has it been fixed?

Any Victus 16 users using Windows 10? What has your experience been? Have you tried Windows 10? Did you return to Windows 11? Please share!

First off, there is no way to DOWNGRADE to Win10 on that model PC.  And furthermore, HP does not have Win10 drivers for it.  So, you would have to force an MS version onto it and that would only have the generic drivers that MS provides.

Second, the Ryzen issue has been fixed some time ago with AMD Chipset drivers.  I'm running a Ryzen 5600X on Win11 and the performance is no different than on Win10 -- since I applied the AMD drivers.

IF one of the main things you don't like about Win11 is the new Start Menu, then visit Stardock to look at Start11 -- I have that on my Win11 PC because I too do not like the new Start Menu.

Thank you very much for your response.

I guess I'm off to see the wizard. This will be a good time to try a new Linux distro!
