Hi @MIXARW ,
I'm sorry to hear you're facing issues with your laptop and the HP Support Assistant. It's frustrating when problems persist despite trying different solutions. Let’s work together to identify and resolve this situation.
- Have you noticed if the lag only occurs when you try to update HP Support Assistant or is it a general issue affecting other apps and tasks?
- Are you receiving any error messages or codes when attempting to download or install HP Support Assistant?
- Have you tried checking for updates directly through Windows Update to see if there are pending system updates that might improve performance?
Let's try these steps.
Uninstall and Reinstall HP Support Assistant:
- Uninstall the existing version of HP Support Assistant using the Control Panel.
- Restart your laptop and download the latest version from the HP Support Assistant website.
- Ensure you install it as an administrator by right-clicking the installer and selecting "Run as Administrator."
Update Windows and Drivers Manually:
- Open Windows Update (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update) and install all pending updates.
- Visit the HP website, enter your laptop’s model number, and download the latest drivers, especially for your chipset, storage, and graphics.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- Use a clean boot to eliminate potential software conflicts.
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and disable all non-Microsoft startup services under the "Services" tab. Restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.
Run Hardware Diagnostics:
- Restart your laptop and press F2 or the relevant key for your device to access the hardware diagnostics tool.
- Run a quick and extensive system test to ensure there are no hardware-related issues affecting performance.
Optimize Storage and Performance Settings:
- Although memory isn’t the issue, ensure your storage drive isn’t too full. Keep at least 15-20% of free space available.
- Disable unnecessary background apps via Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) under the "Startup" tab.
Keep me posted for further assistance
