Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am in search of the product key of Windows 7 that came with my laptop. I tried almost all methods to retrieve my old product key. I recently had to format/clean install Windows 7 on my laptop due to hardware issue. I want to retrieve my product key and I do not have the certificate of authenticity. How can I find it? When I asked microsoft they ask to contact the manufaturer and because my product is out of warranty, I am not able to communicate with HP.

Hi,

If you no longer have the sticker on the notebook and you do no longer have the activated version installed, you will not be able to find the product key.

You could use the product key from another old Windows 7 laptop, if you have one lying around and the sticker is visible.

Hope it helps,

David

In some rare instances, the Win7 product key is encoded into the BIOS chip on the motherboard.  This utility might be able to retrieve it from there:  https://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/2577-showkeyplus.html

Good Luck
