I spilt some water on my HP laptop and i turned it off wiped it turned it upside down and let it drain

it started charging after 3 days but would not work and when i press the power button the light shows for 3 secs before turning off I fully charged it and it still did the same

I then took out the battery and tried to reset the power but it didn't work and didn't work with no battery and just the charger

Today I have checked it and it had no power and am currently charging it

Any help would be much appreciated and I'm happy to answer any other questions

Here are some tips on dealing with liquid damage: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/you-just-spilled-water-or-coffee-on-your-laptop-heres-what-you-should-d...

However ... it's most likely that SOME damage was done, regardless of how quickly you turned off the laptop and what you did afterward. The key problems are only the surface and almost certainly, more damage was done than that.

The ONLY way to know for sure is to take or send it to an HP Service Center and pay a LOT of money for them to run full diagnostics on it, and after that, to disassemble it to repair or replace any damaged components.

And, if the motherboard is damaged, the cost of repair can easily exceed the cost of replacing the laptop -- because (as far as I know) liquid spill damage is NOT covered under the warranty.

I really dont have the money for any of that, would there be any home solutions or ways I would be able to run diagnostics myself to find out the cause?

You can run basic diagnostics by pressing the Esc key repeatedly while rebooting and when the HP Startup Menu appears, select the option to run diagnostics, usually F2.
