HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I've had my notebook for years, with little to no issues. I haven't used the webcam in a while, but in the last 6 months it has disappearred! There's no trace of the inbuilt truevision webcam. There isn't even an option for imaging devices in my control panel, it's like it never existed. If I try to use Skype, YouCam or Zoom, I'm told there is no camera detected. I ran the recovery manager, and got nothing.

 

I went through the archives and this appears to be a pretty common problem, but the only solution was to do a full factory restore and then according to other users, that fix is only temporary! The problem begins again in a few weeks/months. I was found that HP doesn't provide a driver for the webcam. 

 

All of the like-problems I could find were archivved years ago. I'm hoping there is NOW an actual solution?? Please help. I'm not trying to buy a new laptop, just because of webcam 😞

Apologies... I didn't restate it because I had to enter it for the post and it's listed in the tags. The model is:  HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC.  Purchased in 2012. It's old, but nothing is wrong with it. Operating with Windows 7 (64-bit). I didn't upgrade on purpose,..LOL. Not sure what else you would need?

you need the product number located on the label on the bottom of your laptop

Ok, but how is getting the information about my laptop a solution to how to restore the webcam? Or am I misunderstanding? I looked up my laptop. I couldn't find the webcam, just you CyberLink YouCam software. How does this fix the issue? Thank you...

Ok, so I did that - It wasn't helpful to me at all, and there's nothing listed for a webcam driver. And yet this laptop comes stock with a webcam. What do you need to know in order to help me? You didn't ask me to provide anything after I looked up my laptop. You just asked me to be more specific which I though I was by giving you the model and year. Is there information from the link you want? If so, please tell me what? I feel like I'm going in circles at this point... lol. If you want to look yourself, my serial number is:  2CE2090667. Using your serial number, I was able to determine that you have a  HP Pavilion dv6-6c35dx

And for Windows 7 there is Cyberlink YouCam software?

I had already looked that up, as I said in my previous reply:  "Ok, so I did that - It wasn't helpful to me at all, and there's nothing listed for a webcam driver. And yet this laptop comes stock with a webcam.".   There is nothing listed ther about the webcam an no DRIVER. I also said that in my original post that there's no driver for it: "found that HP doesn't provide a driver for the webcam.". 

 

So I'm still at square one. There has to be a solution other than a factory reset that's only temporary (please read my original post - this was common a few years ago, but the reset is only temporary).

Also, yes I re-installed the YouCam software. The software is back. No webcam stil and no imaging devices option in my control panel.
