Hi:

As far as I can tell, your notebook does not have a CMOS/RTC battery.

There is no mention of one in the service manual's parts list, nor in the removal and replacement procedures section.

@Oliver-07_

I've heard some series of HP notebooks don't have RTC (Real Time Clock) or CMOS battery and looked like the HP Pavilion 15-ccxxx machines do not have RTC/CMOS battery at all. It is not mentioned on parts list

nor Manual

I may miss some lines. Please read above information yourself (note: HP calls CMOS battery as RTC battery).

Regards.

IT support at my place of employment felt that is what is wrong with my laptop.  It is not work issued.  It is shutting off and time is not accurate.   At this time it will not even turn on, sounds as though it is going to but does not power on. What else could be causing this?

Hi:

Does it power on with the A/C adapter plugged in?

If so, the main battery which is internal and probably also serves as the CMOS battery needs to be replaced.

If it doesn't power on with the A/C adapter plugged in, it's anybody's guess as to what the problem is, but it probably will be an expensive fix.

Sadly it does not power on when a/c adapter is plugged in either.  It may power on for a few minutes then it shuts down again. Whether plugged in or not, I am assuming this is not good?

HP Recommended

No, it is definitely not good.

I'm not a PC repair tech by trade or training, but I highly doubt it is something simple that is the problem.

You would probably have to take it in to a repair shop and get an estimate for repairs, and sometimes it is better to just cut your losses and sell the notebook for parts and get a new one.
