Victus 15.6
Microsoft Windows 11

I’ve seen many people talking about the hp support assistant bios update making computers act weird and sometimes even brick themselves but I downloaded it without knowing the fact it kills them and in a few minutes i got a blue screen which made me restart the computer. I saw a couple of forum answers about what to do next. I shut down the computer, plugged it in and held the windows+ B keys and held the power button for 2 seconds which led me to the bios recovery thing. After doing that I haven’t had any issues so far but just to be safe i wanted to ask the community if i should do anything else just to be safe. Btw my laptop is the Victus 15.6 i5 12450h

Hi @Randomperson122,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • Do you have the error code on the Blue Screen Of Death(BSOD) which appeared on your PC?

While you respond to that, please try the below steps:

Step 1: Perform an SFC scan and check if it lists any issues. To Perform a SFC Scan -

a. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow

b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow

A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'. Be patient because the scan may take some time.

c. If any files require a replace SFC will replace them.

Step 2: Update Windows OS - select Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Update , and then select Check for updates. If updates are available, install them.

Step 3: Update the BIOS for your PC directly from the HP Support Website

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
