Good morning, Jeff:
If it were me, I don't think I would update the BIOS if the notebook is running fine on W10 v1803.
Intel Management Engine Interface Driver...should be installed regardless of Windows version.
Orbit version to be installed on the PC:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp80501-81000/sp80951.exe
Orbit for Apple:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hp-orbit/id1140275542
I don't know if Orbit has ongoing support or updates.
Methinks not, since the app was discontinued from the Google Play Store and the app did not come with your PC.

Good morning to you too Paul! Thank you again!
I will leave the bios alone! Thank you for the orbit stuff and etc.
When it comes to software that requires a certain Processor speed for example, my HP PC is 1.6 ghz and I have a software that I need to install that is requiring 2.0 ghz or faster. If I were to install that software will it hurt my PC or will it cause it to crash, will the software not work?
Thank you! I appreciate it.

You're very welcome.
It depends on how old the program is that you want to install.
If it was from 10 years ago, your 1.6 Ghz processor is better than any 2.0 Ghz processor that was around at the time.
It is a recent software edition, the worst case scenario is the software will cause the PC to run sluggishly when you run the software.

Awesome! Thank you again!
The program is recent and the laptop was bought last week and the model was 2017. Hopefully it won't be too sluggish or I guess I am back to the drawing board in my search of a new one.
I'll keep you posted on how things are going.

Hopefully, it will work satisfactorily.
I am currently installing the software and setting it up and then I am going to be making an image. I will test it out further, but I think I will be more in the lines of getting a faster one just to be safe. Will see.
Samehere!

Good Morning or soon Afternoon Paul!
Update here! I have completed the wipe, clean install of both my laptop and PC desktop. I just need to finish, which I will do overtime the installation of the rest of my software and other settings etc. For this first round I used the command dispart "clean all" to do a more secure wipe. I did the clean install and both computers are running good. I am currenlty trying to learn this program called Macrium Reflect for making images, but overall I did make one image of both systems and will do another one as I learn the software better. So far so good.
How do you backup your system or files? Do you use a Imaging software? What type of backup hard drives do you use? I am just having a hard time deciding on either buying 1tb, 2tb etc for imaging my system or buying either the WD Passport vs internal drives for backup purposes. Any thoughts on that? My system as of right now is 40gb, but I know it it will be bigger than that as I install and setup everything as well as program files that will be created as I use the programs. So, would a 2tb drive be overkill?
---
I would like to rediscuss the partition delete method again as I am confusing myself or having some possible false beliefs that is causing me to be stuck on this. I know you on old PC's have done a secure erase. Did you notice any difference in performance etc. when doing it the secure erase way vs delete partition way?
For some reason on my end I could of sworn wihen I tried in the past deleteing partition method that it didn't run as nice as doing as secure erase. any thoughts on that? Should I have any worry about doing it the delete partition method?
---
Thank you very much again for all your help.

Hi:
I use Macrium Reflect to do a monthly system image.
I also just copy and paste my user profile folders (documents, downloads, music, etc) to a portable hard drive that I also keep the Macrium image on.
I am more concerned with preserving my few files, than having to clean install the operating system in case the image restoration doesn't work.
So that way I have my bases covered.
And I also made the Macrium bootable DVD rescue disk so I can access the image on the portable hard drive.
I have a 1 TB portable HDD for all of my stuff because I don't keep many files.
I have a 2 TB portable HDD for my wife's stuff because she has a lot of pictures.
As far as secure erase vs simply deleting the partition during the windows installation process, I would not be able to offer an opinion on that.
It has been ages since I have used DBAN on a hard drive and have zero recollection on how the drive performed after using DBAN vs simply deleting a partition.

Thank you for the input! Are you using WD hard drives? Do you like it?

One really useful feature of Macrium Reflect is the ability to mount partitions from an image backup in Windows, so you can restore individual files or groups of files from an image backup. I don't know if this is possible in the free edition, but it is certainly possible in the paid edition of Macrium Reflect 7.1.
Macrium also allows you to create file and folder backup jobs, but that feature is restricted to the paid edition.
