When I do a clean install of Win 11 It goes through the install but when I get to connecting to the inter the box is grayed out

If you can't continue beyond setting up W11 because there is no internet connection, set up a local account using the instructions provided at the link below:

 

How to bypass internet connection to install Windows 11 - Pureinfotech

 

Then you can install the applicable Wi-Fi driver from your notebook's support page to connect to the internet.

This works thanks don't know why Microsoft offers the media creation but does not support wi-fi Not a programmer but I can't see why

Your notebook probably has one of the newer Realtek or Mediatek Wi-Fi 6 adapters for which Microsoft has not included the drivers for in the ISO files yet.

 

Heck, they haven't even included the Intel storage controller drivers for the Intel 11th, 12th and 13th generation core processors yet and they have had a few years to do that by now.

 

So, when installing W11 on Intel platforms you have to manually load the Intel storage controller drivers during the installation process, where windows asks where you want to install it, and no drives can be found.

 

We're back to the days of Windows 2000 and XP where you had to do that on PC's with SATA AHCI controllers.
