Hi:

The Windows product key is encrypted in your notebook's BIOS.

Install the free Showkey Plus app from the Micorosoft Store and it will show you the Windows product key.

ShowKeyPlus - Microsoft Store Apps

The report should show an Installed Key and an OEM key.

If the installed key is different from the OEM key, change the installed key to the OEM key in the PC settings menu and you should be able to activate Windows.

Great advice, Paul.  Thank you

However, when I proceed to input this under Activation, it does not recognize the code.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know what you can do if the OEM product key won't activate Windows.

I suggest you contact Microsoft for further assistance with activating Windows.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply.  I have contacted Microsoft directly several times and their help has been marginal at best.  I wish HP could help with this one.
