Did you take the free upgrade to Windows 10? If so your key was converted to Win 10 key and you can install it.
Btw-If you are using the correct version of the Windows 8 iso you should not even be asked for a key in the later version of Media Creation Tool. You should be using Windows 8.1 iso. It could possibly be Windows 8.1 Single Language.

i got to a point where MS tokd it is an active windows 8 oem and that only hp can reactivate it
HP advices a correct iso as youvementioned as well
Unfortunately hard to find this Window 8 oem iso
I didnt upgrade it but i tried fresh install win 10 the key didnt work
I came to the conclusion that its either ingot the correct iso or just buy another key whihevr is cheap probably
Thank you

I am not sure what a new key would cost. You could order Recovery Media from HP which doesn't require a key. Think it is about $40.

Hi
Adding to what Cheryl_G says...
You install a copy of Windows 8.x, it asks for the key, there should be an option to install and enter the key later.
Then run keyfinderinstaller or magicaljellybean and look for a key.
I think you may already have the key.
Then just wait for a few days to see if AutomaGically you get activated, if not then you may be back in the loop.
I dont believe you need a key to re-install, BUT you do to continue usage.
If you are going to consider buying a key, consider the W10 option.
OR
Even after doing the compliance check against a qualifying license, you might still need to use phone activation;
1. Press Windows key + X then click Run, then type: slui.exe 4
2. Next press the 'ENTER' key
3. Select your 'Country' from the list.
4. Choose the 'Phone Activation' option.
5. Stay on the phone (do not select/press any options) and wait for a person to help you with activation.
6. Explain your problem clearly to the support person.
Best,
Andre

Hi
"recovery media costs 67aud " That's probably more than a coupla quid.
And now you know howto do it.
Now go try and install all the HP software and drivers.
Then MAKE ANOTHER recovery media with all the drivers etc on it.
