     Hello All:

Last year I bought this HP w10, Originally it had McAfee Anti-Virus  program. Now I

have clean-installed the w10 to 1803, I need to open w10 build-in Anti-Virus program.

I found in C: "Program Files"  and  "program Files(x86)" all have "Windows Defender"

Where is the w10 Anti-Virus program located?

How to open it to protect my OS?

    Thanks!                                                      --  Zhao

     Hello Paul:

I know that the "Defender" is the Anti-Virus name of w10.

But I look into both "Defender" in the "Program Files" and  "Program File(x86)",

I can not find the Anti-Virus  *exe file.

Could you tell me the SCAN virus *.exe file name?

     Thanks!                               -- Zhao

Hi,  Zhao:

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with that question, but if you click on the link I posted, then click on the blue 'Verify if you're updated' box near the top of the webpage, it will check to make sure the virus definitions are updated.

Then you can can click on the blue 'Open Windows Defender Security Center link, and you will be directed to the Windows Defender Security Center window that shows all the controls and should state that no action is needed.

If you want to scan for viruses, you can do so at any time by clicking on the Virus and Threat Protection box in the window, and click on Scan Now.

That will run the virus scan exe file.
