HP Notebook 15-r206TU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is HP 15-r206TU which came with WINDOWS 8.1 Single Language as pre installed. Currently I am running Windows 10. The problem is now a days I was always getting blue screen errors and suddenly my laptop stopped working. So I tried to use recovery cd that came along  with it but the problem was everything will run fine till the 99% and then comes the error message "Restoration Incomplete." I have taken the photos of log files at the time but I don't know what is the error. When my laptop was under warranty I replaced the motherboard, which was done by an HP service personal. But I never tried to go back from windows 10 to windows 8.1 once I upgraded my laptop back in 2015. So now only I realize such an issue is there. Please help me as I like to try windows 8.1 for some time.

Hi:

If the recovery DVD isn't working, the only suggestion I can offer would be to make plain W8.1 installation media.

Download the W8.1 64 bit Single Language ISO file from the link below.

Download Windows 8.1 Disc Image (ISO File) (microsoft.com)

Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below that you will need to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive or DVD so that it is bootable.

After W8.1 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

But sir, I think its some compatibility issue as everything gets copied and then the installation also starts and almost finishes. At the end it says restoration incomplete. I will post the pics of the log file. Please let me know what is the error here, because I like to know what happened. I hope you can help me here if you have the time. Here its asking to check brand name in EEPROM which I checked and its showing HP NOTEBOOK PC 15-r206TU. Also the technician updated the info using some software he brought with him at the time of mother board change. When I checked model number in HP india website, it is displaying as HP Notebook - 15-r206tu. Will this affect the process in any way, sir?

Thanks in advance20201105_212413.jpg

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you get the recovery media to work.

Recovery media is like a light bulb.  It either works or it doesn't.

Oh, ok Sir. But I don't have a product key with me as the OS(Windows 8.1) came pre installed with the laptop. So even if I made a windows 8.1 installation cd using the link it will ask for the product key, right?

If the motherboard was replaced with the right one that has the W8.1 SL product key in the BIOS, then when you go to install W8.1, it won't even ask you to enter a product key, because it will find the W8.1 product key in the BIOS firmware.

Ok. Thank you sir.
