Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

After installing Microsft Windows 10 1709 December 2017 updates, I get this message when entering Windows:

Capture.PNG

Installed version for 3D DriveGuard is 6.0.44.1. Already tried with version 6.0.45.1 and 6.0.43.1, but it's the same.

I know I can work this around by extracting the SoftPAQ package and let Windows search for a driver there, but I just wan't to mention this, so someone at HP can pick this up.

Sincerely,

Jody

There is a lot of confusion about DriveGuard. So just to verify.

You do not have an SSD?

WHen you look in Windows Mobility Center - DriveGuard: is missing? Or disabled?

When you look in Device Manager you see an error for HP Mobile Data Protection Center?

The latest versions no longer have the applet that shows up under  Hidden Icons. This appears to be by design and is not an indication of a problem, or so many on this support page "believe". I expect they will update the release notes to indicate this change in behavior if this is fact. SP83846 was the final version that worked for me.

Best of luck

What s your computer ? There are few fixes around, please try the following one

        ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp83501-84000/sp83846.exe

It's a ProBook 655 G2.

The link you've send is for version 6.0.45.1, which I've already tried with the same result.

I have 6.0.44.1 installed since a few weeks, this morning my computer installed the Windows 10 December Updates and after the reboot this screen is popping up.

It's great isn't it. Windows updtaes can break your machine every month. Please try the following instructions

    https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c05841987

To remove the software then install

     ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp83501-84000/sp83846.exe

again. The support site only has

    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81885.exe

Which is   6.0.43.1 Rev.A

Great thanks to Microsoft

Thanks for the reply.

I've already tried that, didn't work.

Here's what I did when I first had the problem:

1. Uninstalled current version 6.0.44.1 and rebooted.

2. Installed version 6.0.43.1 from support site and rebooted.

3. Didn't work.

4. Uninstalled version 6.0.43.1 and rebooted.

5. Installed version 6.0.45.1 (from the same download location you provided me) and rebooted.

6. Still the same.

Rfulton01,

That's it, I don't get the compatibility screen anymore after installing 6.0.45.1 and I see DriveGuard is present in Mobility Center, but is disabled. I do have an SSD and there is no error for HP Mobile Data Protection Center in Device Manager.

I didn't know that this latest version no longer has the applet.

Many thanks for the feedback and the solution!!!
