Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I got an Windows 10 (64 bit) update error when trying to move to 1903 Update.   Error is for the Intel Audio Display  (intcdaud.sys) KB 4465877.

Apparently this error also prevented the update to Windows 10 1809 build as I am still running Windows 10 1803.   And the error message says 1803 will soon go out of support - so I need to get it fixed.

As I have researched the error code. Windows has prevented the update previously due to a known compatibility issue with the Intel display audio driver.   This driver is linked with the Intel Graphics Driver.  See a few articles on the issue.

https://www.thewindowsclub.com/intel-display-audio-device-drivers-blocking-update

This is a known issue and there is a new Intel Graphics Driver that has been created to solve the issue.   The article on thewindowsclub above cautions to not download this update from Intel as most manufacturers will do tweaks in the build process.  Rather one should update from the manufacturer.     The new Intel Audio Driver should be version 10.25.0.10 or later which is part of the Intel Graphics Driver version 10.20.100.6286 or later.

I have visited the HP drivers and download site for my product and the old versions of the drivers are still the only updates available.   Drivers updated only to Windows 10 v 1803.

Does anyone know if HP will issue a Graphics Driver version update?

Any help is appreciated.

Detailed Error Code

The following things need your attention to continue the install...

Intel Audio Display (intcdaud.sys), KR 4465877

A driver is installed that causes stability problems on Windows.  This driver will be disabled. Check with your software/driver provider for an updated version that runs on this version of Windows.

It asks to confirm the disabling of this driver.  All I have read is this is a VERY bad idea and rather you should get the updated driver first.

Hi:

Since your model only has the Intel HD graphics, see my knowledgebase article at the link below for how to manually update the Intel HD graphics driver to the latest version...

I have the same question, but for a HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae013dx. I'm finding it especially frustrating since I bought my laptop six months after this problem and all the relevant updates were discovered. A year later, they should have the fix in place. Where is it? Thanks.

You can do the same thing I recommended to the other person.

I don' t work for or represent HP, so I can't answer your question.

You can direct your inquiry to the HP executive team at the link below.

I had the same issue, and used the instructions I posted to update my HP notebook's intel graphics driver (Apollo Lake).

That is why I took a great deal of time and effort to write some instructions down to help others.
