I had a problem, and I have a recovery disk. What the problem is that windiws 10 update insisted on preparing for this long install, so I finally said ok, and it said it installed successfully press ok to reboot. And then it would never boot again. I've spent 4 days bscking up my files since at least they ate still there, but I'm using the HP recovery usb I created when I got the laptop . So I have to start all over and people are saying that they do this and windows tried to install it again after all the regular updates. So now I an very afraid!
I have a less than 2 yr old Model 15-AC-143WM.
I wonder if many other people also are having this problem? Thx

In case some one else needs this, I was able to fix my laptop WITHOUT losing any Apps or data.

It was thanks to this website. Several people I know have used it and it works.

It takses about 2 hrs to download the file into the USB stick on a working computer, and then it takes about 2 hrs to install on the broken computer. But after that, SUCCESS!

One option to consider is setting your wi-fi connection as "metered" to avoid the latest update trying to install again:
