Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there,

I've some troubles to install Windows 10 (64x Fall Creator). Since the Linux driver are still unstable (under GPU load) I've to switch back to Windows. Unfortunately I do not have the receovery partitions anymore and HP does not send a Windows 10 Recovery Disk/Flash drive.

At the beginng of the Windows 10 installation the system ask me for a media driver (I can not see Samsungs SSD). I reset the defaul BIOS settings and successfully load all that drivers from a usb device:

  • AMD GPIO Controller
  • AMD High Definition Audio Device
  • AMD I2C Controller
  • AMD PSP 10.0
  • AMD Radeon Vega 8 Mobile Graphics
  • AMD SMBus
  • AMD-RAID Bottom Device
  • HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor
  • Realtek PCIE CardReader
  • Samsung NVMe Controller
  • Synaptics SMBus ClickPad

But Windows still ask and require a "media driver" to proceed. I extracted and copied all availble drivers from the HP website but something is still missing.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a missing AHCI or USB 3 driver?

Thanks! Where do you expect to get these drivers?

The AMD page does not list this APU under the support/download section:

Furthermore, all USB driver I could isolate from the chipetdriver are for Windows 7.

Ouch! Seems you are living on the bleeding edge at the moment.

I assume you already have the following:

I'm sure HP and AMD know more than is published. Hopefully someone from HP chimes in or you could try and get through the support to next level.

Hey, of course 😉

Thats the origin of me extracted drivers. Unfortunately most manufactors releasing only EXE-driver, which I've to open in order to get the actual driver files.

I'm really disappointed from HP. I would expect that they would providing those important driver files... Especially because I know that they HAVE the drivers (since they are providing Windows7 for that system).

How can I get "the next level"?

Did you manage to get this sorted? It could be that you need the Intel drivers because the drive interfaces are in RAID mode by the BIOS?

Hey,

thanks for the reply.

Yes I already tried that. Windows 10 does not "see" the driver.

This probably means that the driver does not fit to the system/mainboard.

@HP

The lacking support is really embarrassing.

I thought I already edited my reply because for sure Intel drivers would not work for the AMD but maybe something similar from AMD. I wish they were more clear on it, but they do have some RAID related stuff here, maybe the answer is hidden in one of those. Sorry to be just guessing here:

Hey,

thanks but I tried that also already.

The driver does not change anything 😞

By the way, I figrued out that Linux driver is stable unless graphics workload.

It calculates some stuff since >72 h without any problems.
