HP Laptop 15T-DW100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After a windows update, the computer went into recovery mode. It failed to recognize the password and started automatic repair of the system. Windows 10 has been reloaded 10 times. It worked fine after each reload. It failed again when trying to log on again after being unused for about a month. It acted like it was going to restore and completed. It restarted and went into automatic repair mode again.

The machine was 1 month old and I have reloaded the software from disk done system restores and it still fails to work correctly. I have built many machines over the years. This is an unreliable product. Customer support wants to charge for repair since it is a technical issue. I had a HP SSD portable drive do a similar issue and it was replaced. I had an HP case and no one contacted me on the issue with this machine. 5044701440 from 02/24/2020. Poor followup by HP. I had a similar incident happen with a Lenovo Laptop with a SSD drive as well around the same time frame. I reloaded Windows 10 and it worked OK but it had an issue this week but managed to restart and it worked fine again.

I believe that Windows 10 has an issue with SSD drive technology and the updates are causing the SSD drives to be unstable. This happened after the Feb upgrade to windows 10 on both computers and HP SSD drive. I had a couple of old laptops that when upgraded to windows 10 would not see external SSD drives. These were a number of SSD drive products Seagate, WD, and HP. The HP computer bios was also updated to try and eliminate this issue. A defective product as seen from my end. It needs and RMA number and a replacement.

@Aussiess

I understand that you're encountering frustrations using Win10 with SSDs -- but of the dozen PCs that I support on an ongoing basis, eight of them are using SSDs, two of them being HP laptops, and NONE of them have had any problems with their SSDs.

So, there is not a basic problem using Win10 with SSDs.
