Windows 11 compatability

I have used the Windows 11 compatability checking tool and my laptop fails (only) because of the processor . The Microsoft specification for windows 11 is stated as 1GHZ but my machine has a 2.8GhZ processor. Is the problem with the tool or my machine.

Any help apreciated.

the official version of windows 11 at the time of writing this answer has not yet been released, unless I'm mistaken!
Don't rush, any new version has these problems, wait at least a little bit before you start
Check everywhere if there are problems after installation or not!

look at the bottom, where the TPM version is shown. If we see version 2.0, our computer should be compatible with Windows 11 in this section.

the user will have to either change Cpu, if possible, and if the upgrade will allow the installation this time, and if not something else

If a CPU does not support MBEC (Mode Based Execution Control) which is part of HVCI (Hypervisor-protected Code Integrity) it will not be supported.

And sorry but what does all that mean in my case? Are you saying my cpu chip does not have these attributes? Also what particular operations or commands can it not perform which windows 11 uses nut windows 10 does not. Thank you for your help so far.

You are confusing two very different issues: (1) what Windows 11 actually NEEDS in order to run, and (2) what MS REQUIRES in order to install it.

I am currently running Win11 previews on two PCs, neither of which meet hardly ANY of the Win11 requirements -- but they both run just fine without any issues whatsoever.  So clearly, the requirements that MS publishes are not actually needed for Win11 to run.

'So, no one can tell you everything that Win 11 NEEDS because they would have to do exhaustive testing to see what causes it to stop running -- and as far as I can tell so far, no one has done this.

Here we don't know what your computer is, it doesn't help ..
But if it is not fully compatible, and you cannot change anything, currently the only option advertised would be to go through a full installation.
Only, microsft announced, that everything will not be taken care of, not to mention the possible problems!
"Microsoft is announcing today that it won't block people from installing Windows 11 on most older PCs. While the software maker has recommended hardware requirements for Windows 11 - which it's largely sticking to - a restriction to install the OS will only be enforced when you try to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 through Windows Update. This means anyone with a PC with an older CPU that doesn't officially pass the upgrade test can still go ahead and download an ISO file of Windows 11 and install the OS manually .
Microsoft won’t be recommending or advertising this method of installing Windows 11 to consumers. In fact, after we published this post, Microsoft reached out to tell us about one potentially gigantic catch it didn’t mention during our briefing: systems that are upgraded this way may not be entitled to get Windows Updates, even security ones. We’re asking Microsoft for clarification.

What works for one will not necessarily work for the other

My advice will stay for a while
Wait until you see what happens to most people.
if the computer is not 100% compatible, besides you are not a user Who can manage easily, don't, windows 10 remains a very good system
