HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-dw1000 (1W798AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everybody,

I am currently trying to install Windows 11 on my HP pavilion x360 convertable (cpu: Intel Core I5 11th gen). Apparently, when I get to the select disk step, there aren't any drives, and it says I have to load drivers to get access to the disk. I've did quite a research online, tried downloading official storage drivers from HP for my pc, also downloaded drivers from answers to similar questions, but neither of this had worked. I also tried extracting all of the obtained .exe files, but with no luck. I am looking for the drivers that can help me proceed in my installation.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Daniil

Hi, Daniil:

See if the file that I zipped up and attached below works for you:

If your notebook came with Windows from HP, it may be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store:

HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

Since you have to use the software on another PC as yours is not working, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

I don't know what your notebook's product number is.

The one you posted (1W798AV) is for the entire model series which has many different individual model numbers/product numbers associated with it.

Hello, Paul

Many thanks for your reply.

Sadly, the drivers you zipped didn't work. I've also tried some other drivers that you've been zipping in other similar discussions, and none of them worked. For some reason, in the driver selection window in the installation I can't see any files, only folders. I guess this is because there is no files of needed format. I will try to use the HP Cloud Recovery utility, but I am not sure whether the PC came with with Windows from HP. I will inform you of the result as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Daniil

Hello

Thanks for waiting. As I already written in my previous post, the drivers you attached didn't work for me. As for the HP Cloud Recovery Utility, it also doesn't fully suit my needs, as only found options of backing up data and installing Windows 10 on the whole drive, or just formatting the drive and installing Windows 10. However, I've currently got an Arch Linux system running and would like to install Windows only on one partition and not on the whole drive.

Also while trying to boot from the flashdrive I got another problem. My pc sometimes just wouldn't boot. I get 7 long and 3 short flashes from the Caps Lock. I have had similar problems earlier, but my pc actually would boot after some time. I've read the HP official guide, and tried power resetting, and it solved my problem. But when I shut my pc down, I got the problem again... After some time I could boot into the usb drive, and found out that none of the options suited me. Could there be some workaround for this?

Kind regards,

Daniil
