My apologies Garp_senchau,

I just presumed "My Devices" showed up on your end.

HP x360 13t-y000 CTO

This query all (re)started last week when my next door neighbors

brother-in-law ("a self-employed computer geek") offered he can

'adapt' "pretty any W10 pc/laptop to W11 regardless of 'published

charts' that say otherwise".  He's back in town Thanksgiving, so trying

to decide IF possible?  Whether I should allow him crack open my

wife's laptop??  He DID build my grandson a monster desktop gaming

system from scratch; and is offering to (again) help him upgrade it.  ??

Hi @TexasIndian,

Thank you for the detailed context. I understand your concern, wanting to upgrade your wife’s HP x360 13t-y000 CTO to Windows 11, but being cautious about “unofficial” methods. Here’s a clear overview:

Check Official Compatibility
– Microsoft has published minimum requirements for Windows 11, including TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, supported CPU, and RAM/Storage.
– On your HP laptop, you can run the PC Health Check app (from Microsoft) to see if it officially supports Windows 11.

HP Support Guidance
– HP only supports upgrades to Windows 11 if your model is officially listed as compatible. Upgrading otherwise may void warranty or lead to instability.

Safer Alternatives
– If your device is compatible: use the official Windows Update method or HP Support Assistant for the upgrade.
– If it isn’t compatible but you want Windows 11: consider backing up the system and testing on a separate partition or external drive.

I hope this helps.
