Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, This m/c (only two years old) is, according to Microsoft, ineligible for W11. This is because an AMD Ryzen 7 2700U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx isn't supported for W11. Can this be true? Running W10 Home 21H1. This page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-10-21h1-supported... says a Ryzen 7 2700U is eligible. Seems strange? Any ideas, please? Mogmartin.TPM_1.jpg

Hi:

If you want to upgrade to W11, see how to get past that notification.  Very easy.

How to Bypass TPM and CPU Requirements for Windows 11 Upgrade on Unsupported PC - HELLPC

I just did it yesterday and it worked fine.  You just have to accept the agreement that comes up during the upgrade process about your PC not meeting the requirements, etc., etc..

My PC got all of the W11 updates.

However, I don't know how long that will continue, or what will happen when the new build of W11 comes out next year in October.

Thank you for your helpful reply. I didn't know about that. I hope someone will explain why a two-year old CPU is ineligible but, if nobody does, I will use that solution.

You're very welcome.

Microsoft provided an explanation as to why they drew the processor support line where they did.

And as of now, they have zero intention of lowering the processor requirements.

I have upgraded or clean installed W11 on 4 different PC's that have not met the requirements.

One is from 2011.  I have not had one crash or any performance problems whatsoever, and these PC's all 'seem' to run a little better on W11 than they did on W10.

This has all been very helpful and, on my HP Envy, I shall install W11 when it has all settled down a bit. I also have a much older desktop (not HP) running W10 and I shall install W11 as soon as I have time. It fails on Processor, TPM and Secure Boot. Thanks.

You're very welcome.

There was one detail I left out and that is you need to do this...

You need to download the Windows 11 ISO file (3rd option), not the W11 installation assistant.

Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

Then open the file with Windows explorer, and click on the setup application.

To do that, right click on the ISO file and select 'Open With' and select Windows Explorer.

See the screenshot...this is what you will see when you open the file with Windows Explorer.

After you double click to run the setup application, you will get this window, and you can now upgrade to W11.
