ELITEBOOK 840 G1
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi all

After a disk crash,  I'm trying to install windows 7 professional 64 bit on a new hard disk in my elitebook 840 G1; Hp support sent me new disk with 2 cd for installing operating system and drivers.

When I start instllation after few steps system shows me a window:

"Select the driver to be installed"

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing . If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.....

I have a CD with drivers but there are a lot of drivers in differnt folders; I don't konw which drivers are suitable for my laptop and the form let me choose only a driver at a time..

How could I proceed in my installation?

Thanks

Thanks for suggestion but I don't need to recovery; I need to reinstall windows 7 from scratch.

How are you planning to re-install the windows operating system on your HP lapotp ?

Would you use "Recovery partition on the laptop / Recovery CD's / USB Recovery Media" ?

Thank You,

Honestly I 'm not sure;  HP Support sent me 2 CD without any instructions about computer reinstallation.

I suppose that i need to start from Windows 7 installation CD; I didn't try if I could boot from CD drivers.

Hi, @Albe65 :

On my HP business notebooks (except one), I have to boot from the operating system disk to install the OS.

Then I insert the application and driver DVD to install the drivers and software.

See if this works...

I have zipped up and attached the W7 x64 storage controller drivers your notebook needs below.

Download and unzip the file I attached to its folder, and copy just the file contents in the folder to a usb flash drive.

With the W7 installation DVD and the USB flash drive in the PC, boot from the W7 installation media.

After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 will install.
