Pavilion 17-f010us
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

System Specs:

HP Pavilion 17-f010us

O/S: Windows 8.1 (Version 6.3 Build 9600) 64-Bit

CPU: AMD A6-6310

RAM: 4GB

I just got finished restoring the laptop to Factory via the BIOS utility. I have removed most of the excess bloatware and am attempting to update the O/S. However, nothing  happens when I run Windows Update. It just keeps "thinking and thinking" but never stops to list the necessary updates.

The ONLY update that shows up as being installed post-restoration is KB3020370 titled "Update the copy of the Cmitrust.dll file in Windows".

I have tried downloading a security roll up dated 12-2016 (KB3205401)  for stand-alone installation and it does the same thing. The progress bar just rolls and rolls but never actually beings the installation routine.

Any ideas or suggestions in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @GatorBytes

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Community.

Note that Windows Update may sometimes be slower on a newly installed/restored PC because there are many updates to install. Consider potential 3rd party applications interference.
