Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Microsoft have told me that my OS key is blocked by HP....Why??

Early January this year, I updated from Windows 7 home premium to Windows 10 home.  All worked well, with OS activated using my Windows 7 digital license.  End of last week windows took a long time opening up and I found that my activation had been lost.  I tried Microsoft troubleshooter to re-activate it.  The troubleshooter said that the digital license is found, but it gave an error on trying to activate it.  I phoned microsoft to be told HP had blocked my license code and to contact them.   I can't find a contact phone number so hope some kind person can help me here.

Thank you for the detailed description - this is much appreciated !

The screenshots do say your PC has a digital license. So, may be some Windows update corrupted it.

Have you considered reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch - fresh clean (re)installation ?

  • If you are OK to spend some time and give it a fresh start, make sure that you copy / back up your data and
then follow the steps in the attached PDF file below

Hello @236dave

  • HP does not have full (or any) control of the Windows activation... Even though HP and Microsoft are partners, Windows is a Microsoft product and it is Microsoft who have the last word on what and how the activation process goes...
  • Have you performed any sort of hardware updates, upgrades or changes to your device since you initially activated it with Windows 10 ?
  • Please, review this official HP article for Windows activation issues >> https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04640037

Looking forward to your update - let me know how it goes

Hello IT WinSec,

Thanks for offering to help!

I have not made any hardware changes.   I have been searching the net for solutions.

I first tried Windows troubleshooter which detects license but won't activate it.

I have followed some guides, where the last said that I had some corrupt files.

I will attach results from what I've tried.  I hope this will help you to help me.

Thanks It-WinSec,

Did the fresh install as per instructions, Windows 10 is now activated and I took your advice by running DWS 2.2.2.2..

Much Appreciated
