Hi
Happy Deepavalli
ISO images of various Microsoft OS's are available. They can be be downloaded (sometimes you need a licence key other than the HP OEM key) and 'burnt' to a DVD or USB. They will NOT contain the appropriate HP software, like drivers etc, but will enable a repair to be started
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
For when you only have Linux etc (non MS OS) to create install media.

If you use a decent linux the link is there for you.
Try the MS original, then the HP driver's and associated software as needed.
NB: If you have a decent linux, then using Gparted and clonezilla should allow you to see and clone any recovery areas on your HDD.
If you dump your HP, don't get an Acer or anything with an insyde BIOS as they are troublesome.
Get a HP (without an InSyde BIOS) and avoid most of it's troublesome software, and all will be well.

Hey there! @mehu_pr, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand your laptop is getting stuck while reinstalling windows.
Don't worry I will try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
Are you resetting the PC using the recovery discs or from the recovery partition?
As you mentioned your laptop is getting stuck while reinstalling windows.
Try restoring the BIOS to defaults and check if it helps.
1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Also, Try running a system diagnostics on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.
Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.
If the issue persists, please contact HP support and order a new set of recovery discs.

@mehu_pr, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Did you run the diagnostics test on your PC as recommended in my previous thread?
Also, you cannot use a recovery disc which was created for other PC, it will not work.
If the diagnostics test passes it is a software issue with the discs. Please contact HP support and order a new set of recovery discs.

Have a great day ahead!

@mehu_pr, It's great to hear from you again.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us again.
Did you replace any hardware component on your PC?
Also, are you trying to reinstall the operating system using the retail discs?
As you mentioned you would like to know the activation key for your PC.
HP ships all the PC's with a pre-integrated product key into the operating system.
So HP PC's don't require the product key, You have to use a set of recovery discs to reinstall the operating system, this should solve your problem.
If you are using a set of retail discs and if it is asking for the product key. You have to contact Microsoft and get assistance.
If the solution provided worked for you, please mark accepted solution for this post.
Hope this answers your query!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂
