HP Spectre x360 - 15-bl012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After the latest (Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, W10 Pro, version 1709), when I power up my Spectre, Windows Hello scans me and recognizes me normally ("Hello, James Janner") but then reverts to the login screen, when I can only login with my pw or PIN. Restart and HP Support Assistant don't indicate any problems or driver updates.

Update: Windows Hello operates normally when waking laptop from sleep (I am quickly taken to my desktop after a quick recognition by Windows Hello). However from a locked state a message appears after recognition ("Hello, James Janner! Dismiss the lock screen to sign back into Windows"). When I do so with a dismissive swipe I arrive at my desktop. Weird.

Thank you for your suggestions. In my case, I solved it a few minutes ago by trying a suggestion from elsewhere in the forum: In BIOS, clearing TPM (it's status was already enabled). Laptop required one reboot after booting from BIOS setting change for Windows Hello to behave normally.

Thought it sounds more like a Windows problem- do you have the latest camera driver from your Support page? It is the first in list under Driver-Addon:

The poster here seems to have solved it on his laptop:
