Hello, I want to do an upgrade on my old system. I want to replace the HDD by an SSD. Is the laptop compatible with Windows 10? It's an HP Pavilion 17-f070nb. Serial number is [Personal Information Removed].

Hi:

 

Your notebook has W10 driver support by HP, so it should be compatible with W10.

 

HP Pavilion 17-f070nb Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

 

What I suggest you do is to first take the free upgrade to W10 by clicking on the blue Update Now button at the link below.

 

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

 

After you see that W10 is activated with a digital license and everything works correctly, then you can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

 

Then use the media creation tool to create a bootable W10 installation flash drive to install W10 on the SSD.

 

When you get to the part of the installation that asks for a product key, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and activate after you are connected to the internet.
