I know Microsoft no longer supports XP but the last time I re-installed it I was able to update Windows XP from Windows/Microsoft Update. Does anyone know if they have discontinued that? My XP disk includes SP3 and I have installed IE8. I know at one time the installer had to be updated first but not sure now. I can get to the Microsoft Update website but when I click on Express or Custom, I always get: "This Website has encountered a problem...."
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi:
According to this article from Microsoft, Windows Update for XP is no longer supported, along with W2K and Vista.

You're very welcome.
I was disappointed in finding that out.
I like to install old OS's on some PC's that work with XP and Vista, and I turned on an old Dell notebook with XP and got the same error you did.
It appears this change happened within the last 6 months.
Prior to that, you could always get the old updates up to the time that support had ended for the OS.
I guess Microsoft doesn't want to be bothered with any kind of support/maintaining windows update for the older OS' anymore.
