Hello, i am a new user to windows switching from a macbook. i am having issues accessing my external hard drive that has files from my macbook on it. i know that the operating systems differ and that is the reason why i cant view the hard drive from the start.

can someone please explain a reliable way to help me access my hard drive that doesnt involve formatting it.

someone recommended the software HFSExplorer and that also requires me to download JAVA. are those reliable and would they help me get the job done.

now when plugging in the drive it asks to format it which i do not want to do.

thank you for your time

Macs use a drive formatting that Windows does not understand, so trying to use a Windows PC to read them is likely NOT going to work -- which is also why the PC is asking to reformat the drive.

I don't use Mac products because I can't afford their insane prices -- so you would have to wait until a Mac user comes along and provides some solutions.

In the meantime, you should probably check with Apple Computer forums to see what they suggest.
