I had to reinstall windows and now when accessing "setup", by pressinf F2 during startup the diagonsitics for hardware is only for memory and harddrive. When try to update bios get message "Bin" file missing.
Suggestions please on how to get the diagonistics back

Did you reinstall windows using HP's cloud recovery?
Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.
Go here and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character
If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 64gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB.
Alternately, download from the MS windows store
Click here for instructions.
| HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically. When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics. There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS', Click the DOWNLOAD button. The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button. When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one. |
Do not attempt to update the bios if there are any hardware problems with PC.
It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it. Look at the BIOS revision history and see if an upgrade is useful. Updates that improve security are needed in a corporate environment but for gaming system they will likely slow down your system.
I personally would not upgrade any gaming BIOS that was only security related unless the PC was used in a corporate, industrial or military organization.
Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade like these users did
