even when using a hp oem xp iso (https://archive.org/details/WinXPProSP2HPOEM) and using a modified acpi.sys (https://msfn.org/board/topic/185864-where-i-can-download-acpi-20-drivers-acpi-v6666-for-windows-xp/?...) and setting my hard drive mode to ide, xp still bluescreens.

(also the filepath to the acpi.sys i used is \ACPI_patches.7z\ACPI\23 - acpi 7777.8 - 2023.04.17 - A5x11+A5x03\5.2\acpi.sys, i renamed it to ACPI.SY_)

Set your BIOS to AHCI mode, read the instructions I have attached below for how to slipstream the SATA AHCI drivers I zipped up and attached below to a copy of your XP CD installation media.

If you have a USB floppy disk drive, you can also install the SATA AHCI driver that way by copying the attached file contents from the folder to the floppy drive.

If you use a floppy drive, when you are prompted to press F6 to load the storage controller drivers, do so.

Windows setup will continue to load and then it will stop and ask you to press 's' to install the SATA driver your notebook uses.

You use the Up/Down arrow keys and scroll to and select the Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller from the list.

The notebook will continue to load drivers.

Do not unplug the USB floppy disk drive until WXP has completed installing.

Windows will go to the USB FDD again during the installation process.
