Hi @Peter_AT123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for sharing the details. I understand your HP EliteBook 865 G11 is not powering on, the amber charging LED is flashing, and a hard reset has already been attempted. I'll do my best to help.

Before we proceed, could you please let us know:

  • Is the Caps Lock or Num Lock LED flashing? If so, how many times does it blink, and is there a long or short pause between the flashes?
  • Do you hear the fan spinning or see any other LEDs turn on when you press the power button?
  • Are you using the original HP 65W USB-C adapter, and have you tried another compatible HP USB-C charger if one is available?

Try an HP BIOS Recovery

If the BIOS has become corrupted, the notebook may not boot normally. Please try the following:

  1. Turn the notebook off.
  2. Connect the AC adapter.
  3. Press and hold the Windows + B keys.
  4. While holding these keys, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds, then release the Power button while continuing to hold Windows + B for another 5–10 seconds.
  5. If the HP BIOS Update or HP BIOS Recovery screen appears, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the recovery.

Check with an External Display

If the notebook appears to power on but the internal display remains blank:

  1. Connect the notebook to an external monitor or TV using a compatible display cable.
  2. Power on the notebook and check whether video appears on the external display.

This helps determine whether the issue is related to the notebook display or if the system is not completing the startup process.

Once you've completed these checks, please let us know:

  • Whether the BIOS Recovery screen appeared.
  • Whether there are any keyboard LED blink codes.
  • Whether the external monitor displays any image.

We'll review the results and guide you through the next HP-supported steps.

I'm an HP Employee.
